இப்புராணம், பாண்டவர்களின் வம்சத்தில் பிறந்த சதானீகருக்கு, ரிஷியான சௌனகர் செய்த உபதேசங்களின் தொகுப்பு. இதில் சொல்லப்பட்ட உபவாஸம், மௌனம், தானம், தர்ப்பணம், விளக்கேற்றுதல் முதலான சிறு சிறு ப்ராயச்சித்தங்களைச் செய்தால், பாபங்களெல்லாம் விலகி வாழ்க்கை வளம் பெறும்.

This Purana is the conversation between Sage Sounaka and King Sataneeka, the descendant of Pandavas. The little deeds like, fasting, lighting a lamp, tarpana, sharing with others, etc. that are prescribed in this scripture would wipe out our Papas and lead us to a prosperous life.
